Message from PILT Advisor

whose patience, compassion, and motto guide PILT every single day

Ms. Sigrid Struben

Associate Director of Community Affairs, PATH San Diego

When I first started working in the nonprofit world I was driven by the famous words of Martin Luther King Junior, “Volunteering is the ultimate act of democracy. You vote in elections once a year but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” As the Associate Director of Community Affairs at PATH San Diego, this quote rings true every day and nothing is more inspiring than working with the next generation of changemakers. I am honored and humbled to be working alongside the PILT Teams as we work collaboratively to build coalitions, create a movement and ensure that every person has a place to call home.

As the issue of homelessness continues to grow in San Diego, I look forward to working with all of the PILT members, creating a shared vision and strengthening our collaboration to address the fundamental right of all people to have safe and affordable housing. No one should ever have to live on the streets. Thank you for all the work that you do and showing the world the kind of community you want to live in!
